Tea

Can We Drink Tea In The Evening?

All teas come from the camellia sinensis plant; it has caffeine, which is stimulating. Depending on your sensitivity to caffeine, you can drink tea in the evening. To avoid sleeping problems, we recommend choosing herbal tea or Rooibos.

Which Tea Has The Most Caffeine?

Black teas are the most stimulating teas; therefore, they contain the most caffeine. Japanese green tea grand cru, such as Gyokuro and Matcha, are the exceptions that confirm the rule.

What Is Pu Erh?

Pu Erh is a type of tea of its own. It is a post-fermented tea, also called dark tea. There are two types of Pu Erh: Sheng Cha and Shu Cha.

Sheng Cha Pu Erh is a post-fermented tea, like wine, that gets better with age. It has humus, wet soil and animal notes.

Shu Cha Pu Erh is a tea whose fermentation has been sped up, so it won’t age. It has distinctive humus and undergrowth notes.

What Is The Difference Between Our Three Jasmine Teas?

Our three jasmine teas are based on Chinese green tea; the fineness of the harvest and the flavour method are different.

1. Jasmin Bio is a basic green tea flavoured with natural jasmine essences. It comes from organic farming.

2. Chung Hao has a finest harvest. Jasmine flowers are placed in contact with tea so that it absorbs their flavour.

3. Perles du Mandarin is a grand cru. It is put in touch several times with jasmine flowers, which delicately flavour it.

How Do I Preserve My Tea?

a is air and light-sensitive.

The best way to preserve it is to put it in a light-resistant, oxygen-free container (zip bags, metal tin, etc.).

If you preserve it in a glass jar, place it in a cupboard, out of direct light.

How Long Do I Steep My Tea?

Steeping time will depend on your preparation method and the tea you drink.

For a steeping in a classic teapot :

  • 3 minutes for green tea and black tea with broken leaves

  • 5 minutes for black tea, oolong tea, pu erh, Rooibos and herbal teas

  • 7 to 15 minutes for white tea

  • 20 minutes for yellow tea

For a gong fu cha steeping:

  • 30 seconds for oolongs and pu erh → 3 to 5 successive steepings

For a gaiwan steeping:

  • 30 to 40 seconds for green and white teas → 2 to 3 successive steepings

What Tea Should I Choose For Tea-Time?

All teas contain caffeine. The one that suits you will depend on your sensitivity to caffeine and the flavours you wish to experience. We recommend oolong tea because it has low caffeine content. This semi-oxidised tea has floral and woody notes according to its oxidation level. Moreover, you can steep the leaves several times, releasing the caffeine during the first brewing.

You can also choose a low-caffeine green tea with vegetal notes or a black tea with woody notes. The black tea will give you the stimulating note you need at the end of the afternoon.

What Tea Should I Choose For Breakfast?

You can drink any tea for breakfast; it’s a matter of taste. If you want a stimulating drink, you can select black teas.

  • Single estate teas: You can choose a classic blend (a blend of black teas from different tea estates) or a particular country, such as China with Yunnan, India with Darjeeling or Assam, Sri Lanka, or Kenya. The more broken the leaf is, the stronger your tea will be.

  • Perfumed teas: Earl Grey and Citrus Fruits are among the classics. You can also choose flower, spicy, or fruity blends.

Is Rooibos A Tea?

No, Rooibos isn’t a tea. Tea comes from a tea tree, also known as Camellia Sinensis, native to Southeast Asia. Conversely, Rooibos is a small shrub, Aspalathus Linearis, growing only in South Africa, in the Cederberg region. It is also called red bush or red tea and is naturally caffeine-free.
